ICT User Support

The Directorate of ICT was tasked with facilitation of the online (virtual) 41st Graduation ceremony. The theme of the 41st Graduation was: "Resilience in unforeseen Adversities". The directorate of ICT worked together with the Corporate Affairs & Protocol Office (CAPO). 

The 41st Graduation was the 2nd Virtual graduation Ceremony the University has had, the 40th Graduation being the first graduation conducted online (or virtual) on 10th December 2020.

Under the direction of the Ag. Director-ICT, Dr. Joyce Komen, the directorate of ICT played a central role in ensuring the success of the virtual event whilst maintaining the rich traditions of Moi University. ICT immensely contributed to a successful virtual graduation through several ICT committees that were constituted namely: Connectivity team headed by Mr. George Bateta, Livestreaming team headed by Ms. Suzzanne Kalume, Content/Production team headed by Mr. Stephen Mumo, User support team headed by Mr. Samuel Shitote and System support headed by Mr. Luke Rotich.

The platforms used to host the online event were Zoom and streamed live on the University's Social media platforms.

ptre-incubation center entrepreneurial bootcamp poster

The directorate was tasked to offer technical support to the joint Phytochemicals Textile & Renewable Energy (PTRE) Incubation Center and Higher Education Partnerships in sub-Saharan Africa Programme (HEPSSA) Virtual Entrepreneurial Bootcamp that was held on Wednesday, 25th - Thursday, 27th November 2020. The Bootcamp was conducted online (virtual) via Zoom meeting platform where a number of a candidates took part in the online event.

Moi University under the Africa Center of Excellence II in Phytochemicals, Textile & Renewable Energy (ACEII-PTRE) Project applied for the  Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) call in collaboration with other partners and won the award of the grant US $ 25,0000 to host an Incubation Center. It targets to strengthen capacity in Education excellence, development impact, establishing partnership with industries, innovation and transfer of technology and supporting business incubation up-to commercialization stage. The Incubation Center (IC) shall transform ideas into products through:

  • Research and incubation,
  • Excellent training, 
  • Mentorship and offering necessary infrastructure, 
  • Services and resource support
